Cendres+Métaux – 125 years of success

In the year 2010, Cendres+Métaux can look back on 125 years of company history. In 1885, Louis Aufranc founded a small smeltery involved in the reprocessing of molten precious metals in Biel/Bienne. 39 years later, that is in 1924, the Aufranc and Zanelli companies, primarily dealing with the processing of residues containing precious metals from the watch casing industry and old pieces of jewellery, merged. This resulted in the establishment of the private limited company Cendres+Métaux Ltd.

Cendres+Métaux is not only known for the manufacture of high-precision, top-quality products, but also as a reliable and popular employer. The company offers above-average employee benefits and modern places of work with interesting prospects and a contemporary working model.
At Cendres+Métaux, not only are apprentices trained in ten different disciplines, but also other members of staff receive guidance in company requirements and receive target-orientated training and further training. Motivated, proficient staff are a pivotal element in success.

Proof of this comes in the form of the Espace Mittelland prize awarded to the company in 2008. In that same year, it acquired Galétan SA, a company that specialises in the production of oscillating weights and segments for the watch industry. The following year, thanks to the takeover of Metalor Dental Holding Ltd, the company was able to significantly improve its market position in the dental medicine sector.

In spite of the rapid growth of the company, at Cendres+Métaux the customer always comes first and is provided with expert support and advice from technical specialists. Products and services are adapted to suit customer expectations and to satisfy statutory requirements. Apart from the production of micro-mechanical parts, it also provides such services as laboratory analyses, materials testing, surface finishing and packaging.

Cendres+Métaux is also an exemplary organisation when it comes to environmental protection. It makes optimal use of energy and raw materials and reduces environmental impact.   A combination of experience and innovation results in solutions with great potential and will secure the company's future success. Freddy Lei (CEO) stresses: "We are proud that our customers have been placing their trust in the capabilities of Cendres+Métaux for the last 125 years. The Cendres+Métaux Group is exceptionally well positioned and has all the prerequisites to remain successful on the market for many years to come."
