Master micro-precision, part by part.

As a micromechanic apprentice at CMSA in Boudry, you’ll learn to produce small, high-precision components on both conventional and CNC machines, specializing in bar turning (décolletage). From reading a technical drawing to running automatic lathes, you’ll build the hands-on expertise behind Swiss micro-manufacturing.

What you’ll learn

1st year

Technical foundations

  • Get started with milling, turning, and drilling on conventional machines
  • Learn to read technical drawings and master the essential measuring instruments
2nd year

Practical application

  • Carry out production work on real components, with a focus on innovation
  • Shape, sharpen, mount, and set the cutting tools on the machine tools
  • Introduction to CNC programming, including TB-Deco and ISO software
3rd year

Advanced projects (bar turning / décolletage)

  • Start up the machine tools and feed them with metal bars
  • Design and produce clamping devices suited to production needs
  • Commission CNC machines independently, with an efficiency-focused approach
  • Inspect and adjust parts directly on the machines for optimal quality
4th year

Expertise and autonomy

  • Master independent CNC machine setup for smooth production
  • Produce parts on automatic lathes and monitor groups of machines
  • Deepen your quality-control and final-adjustment skills to guarantee production excellence
Apprentices rotate departments every six months to gain diverse experience.
